In Pirate Baseball action last evening:
Kaden C. struck out 10 batters as the starting pitcher led Iuka Pirates past Field baseball team 11-4 on Thursday. Kaden allowed five hits and four runs over four and two-thirds innings while walking three.
Iuka Pirates got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after field baseball team committed an error, Kaden C. doubled, Zach J. walked, and Devan J. singled, each scoring one run.
Damon J. , Kaden C. and Devan J. each collected two hits for Iuka Pirates. Devan, the number seven hitter for Iuka Pirates, led the way with three runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-2 on the day. Landon W. paced Iuka Pirates with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, accumulating 11 walks for the game. Kaden stole three bases. Iuka Pirates stole seven bases in the game. Iuka Pirates didn't commit a single error in the field. Damon had the most chances in the field with 10.
Iuka Pirates will take on Sandoval today at home. Game time is 4:30.

Pirate Nation: we will be conducting our annual intruder drill next Thursday, September 6, 2023. The drill is not intense and we let our students and staff know in advance what can be expected. This is a required annual drill and we are required by school code to notify parents and guardians of the drill.

The Lady Pirates were victorious over Field 13-0. Katee S. gets the W in circle only allowing 1 hit and struck out 4. Katee went 2-2 with a RBi, Kenley C. had 3 RBI and a hit, Emily J. and Rylee W. each had a hit and a RBI, Elaina D. had a hit, and Kenzie M., and Lilly M. had a RBI a piece.
The Lady Pirates will be at home on Wednesday to take on N. Clay at 4:30.

Here is an important message from the Iuka PTO:
Due to work schedule conflicts for Pee Wee Board members we are canceling our scheduled meeting that was to be held this Wednesday. Packets will be sent home this week with students and a deadline for return of paperwork and uniform money will be stated in the packet and will include information on Pee Wee basketball and cheerleading and contact information for any questions you may have.

With the extreme heat forecast for the rest of the week, we are cancelling all practices and games through Friday. The girls will play in Salem on Saturday and the boys are planning to practice on Sunday. The coaches will communicate with parents any specific information as needed.

Iuka Softball Rolls Past Odin/ACA
The Iuka Lady Pirates beat Odin/ACA 16-6. Kenzie C. started in the circle and recorded her first 3 strikeouts of her grade school pitching career. Katee S. came in to get the win striking out 9. She also was 4-4 at the plate with 4 RBI. Kenzie C., Emily J., Kenley C. each had 2 hits. Ava R. singled along with Elaina D., Lilly M, Kenzie M.,, Ryle W. Iuka is back in action Tuesday at home against Central City.

Iuka Knocks Off Spring Garden.
Iuka beat Spring Garden 12-0 jumping out to a lead in the first scoring 6 times. Eli B. drove in 3 runs on a hit. Zach J. drove in 2 runs and scored twice to lead the Pirates. Damon J., Robbie P., Devan J. all drove in a run. Landon W. was the winning pitcher going 3.1 allowing no hits and struck out 7. Devan J. got the final 2 outs.
